Fire Music will be screened at this year’s prestigious FIMAV Festival in Victoriaville Quebec Canada. Tom will be present for a press conference. This is Tom’s second time attending the festival, as he performed there as a musician with Executive Producer Thurston Moore back in the day.

FIRE MUSIC is a labor of love, a documentary that is over a decade in the making. The story of the movement in sound that is free jazz. And tomorrow, it's finally out in theaters.
Fire Music was warmly received at the New York Film Festival by both festivalgoers and critics alike. Our director Tom Surgal was chosen to be on a select panel of filmmakers to weigh in about the current state of documentaries. Paul Shaffer (The Late Show Band) came to a screening and lauded the film and effused enthusiastically over our composer Lin Culbertson's score. This was a direct result of all our cumulative hard work over the years, but the work is not over.
We are thrilled to announce that Fire Music will be shown in the "Spotlight On Documentary" category at the 56th New York Film Festival.
Fire Music will be screening March 30th and 31st at the Cleveland International Film Festival, and April 13th at the Freep Film Festival. Hope to see you there if you are in the area. Click the links below for more info.
